History

Konaseema surrounded by river Godavari on all sides and was isolated till mod 1950s.A few privileged students could only pursue higher education at other places. Thanks mainly to the efforts put in by a group of philanthropists in the year 1951, Sri Konaseema Bhanoji Ramars College (SKBRC) was founded in Amalapuram. SKBRC was the only college in the entire Konaseema and the third college in the East Godavari District. Cherished names of the group are Sri Jillella Venkata Bhanoji Ramars, Zamindar of Peruru as its chief donor and Sri Nadimpally Ramabhadra Raju, a freedom fighter as its founder president SKBRC was established. Sri Nadimpally Ramabhadra Raju garu struggled a lot in getting glory to the college as founder president.

Sri Peddada Ramachandra Rao was SKBRC’s first principal and Head of the Department of English and he laid solid foundation for building a good foundation by setting up high standards. He served the college as principal for more than a decade. In 1964 Sri KVV subba raju garu from Commerce Department took the charge as principal. Later in 1966 Sri G P Ramesam, well known for his discipline and professionalism was principal for more than two decades and during his tenure, college became very famous and popular.

SKBRC boasted of very competent teaching staff and has been rated as one of the best colleges in the then Andhra Pradesh. Many students who studied in the college occupied very high positions in their careers – Engineers, Doctors, Scientists, Chartered Accountants, Lawyers, Professors, Mathematicians and Statisticians, Banking and Insurance specialists, entrepreneurs, political leaders etc. The stint in the college always brings sweet memories to everyone who studied in the college that has always given equal importance to studies and extracurricular activities.

Recognized by U.G.C. and Andhra University. The college is situated in an area of 23 acres of land. The College used to have teaching faculties in English, Telugu, Hindi, and Sanskrit as Languages, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Biotechnology, Zoology, Fisheries, Computer Science, Electronics in Science courses History, Politics, Economics, Public Administration, Management Studies, Commerce and Arts.

Apart from the regular intermediate and degree courses, the College started PG Courses in the year 2001 on the name of Smt. Pappu Visalakshi who is the prime donor with name Smt. Pappu Visalakshi sponsored S.K.B.R. PG Courses. Now the college used to run the following courses such as MSc in Organic Chemistry, MSC in Biotechnology, MBA and MCA, BEd etc..

The college has a huge library with books relating to all the faculties apart from departmental libraries. The college is having good adequate number of Lecture halls each with enough furniture and a well-furnished seminar hall. It has a playground in 12 acres of land. The College has well equipped Gym and also has three NCC units and four NSS units as a part of its extra-curricular activities besides games and sports.

Besides formal education, the management has also started distance mode of education in coordination with A.U. School of Distance Education, B.R. Ambedkar Open University who have their study centers in the college campus.

The college has been reaccredited with B++ GRADE UNDER NAAC and is currently affiliated to Adikavi Nannayya University, Rajamahendravaram.
